If you go to this shop for service or State Inspection,hang on to your wallet with both hands.I recently went there for an inspection and was told all of the car's fluids were very dirty and needed to be flushed and replaced at a cost of $715.Don't ask me why it was even necessary for them to inspect the power steering fluid,the transmission fluid,the coolant system fluid, and the brake fluid as part of a routine safety inspection.In any case I had the good sense to take the car elsewhere for a second opinion,and was told that the power steering ,transmission, and coolant fluids were "like new".only the brake fluid was a bit dirty android that had been flushed and changed last year.Buyer beware.

Very professional and a great price. I was able to get my oil change and headlight replaced in under 30 mins. The mechanic that helped me was courteous and willing to help.

It's unfortunate that the shop managers and/or the advisors for this Shell station prey upon the community which serves them, JMHS, it's students and their respective families. In an effort to enable my child to care for the maintenance of their vehicle I encouraged him to drop his car off for its safety inspection. Shell attempted to charge outrageous, and in one case unnecessary, fees for services while having the car inspected. I am frankly infuriated that they would try to scam and overcharge for services. This experience will be the first and LAST with this Shell. I will encourage my son to take his car to Schmitz Exxon in Tysons where they have trustworthy and reputable advisors.

Excellent Repair Shop!!!! Very Professional and honest, brought my wifes car in for an oil change, they let me know of what issues the car had and did not pressure me to buy things, they broke down a list of repairs needed into top priority to last priority. I will be returning here for all my service needs, GREAT WORK JAMES MADISON SHELL!!!!!

Slow and looking for an excuse to fail you. After the change in management and inspectors, it has been all down hill. On two occasions I nearly left after the inspection bay was filed for around 30 minutes with one vehicle and nobody working on it. The shop pays way too man much attention to detail on the wrong things. The seatbelt test does not need to include pulling the entire length of the belt out. Meanwhile, they use impact drivers to remove security lug nuts despite being instructed not to. I will not be returning to this shop

Unreliable service. Called on a holiday to check if inspections were being done. The person indicated that they were taking cars for another hour but when I got there 15 minutes later, not only did the person deny the conversation but also closed the line.

This Virginia state inspection station is the most efficient station that I've ever been to for a few reasons: Firstly, the queue system makes a lot of sense. Instead of waiting for an inspector to grab one's car from the lot, customers must wait in a vehicle queue until their turn. Secondly, the inspection process was very stream-lined. As silly as this sounds, I was timing how long it took the inspector to complete others' state inspections so I could determine how long I'd have to wait. The three people waiting in line before me finished in under 15 minutes apiece. At all other stations I would have to wait at least 30 minutes or so until I was told that my inspection was in progress. Needless to say, I was impressed at how quickly the line was moving. Finally, the inspections were performed by one person. It astounded me that one person was able to keep up with such demand as opposed to other shops with multiple workers that unable to perform one inspection in under 30 minutes (from my experience). To top it all off, all of the employees that I came into contact with at the station smiled and greeted me and were very helpful. I will definitely recommend this station to others and will return for my next Virginia state inspection.
