Regular gas station. Tried to get my car inspected here but they were taking to long so I left.

Highly recommend the honest and friendly crew at Madison Shell. I had hit a large pothole on a long drive down to Vienna, and was concerned that some noises I was hearing indicated serious suspension problems. This morning they quickly performed a safety check and, finding no problems, charged me nothing (!) and quickly got me on my way back to New England. I'm a very happy customer.

My radiator hose blew while I was sitting in heavy traffic on Hunter Mill, a block from Chain Bridge Rd. I managed to get off the road quickly. I noticed that my overflow bottle was also disconnected. It appears my previous service center repairs were faulty. A Good Samaritan stopped, reconnected both, and refilled my antifreeze. He recommended I have it checked by a mechanic, just to be sure. I visited the closest service station, but all of the mechanics had left for the day (4:57pm). I was told to go to James Madison Shell. Luckily, they had a mechanic who works after 5pm. Andre checked my hoses, topped off the antifreeze, allowed my car to run for a while, and rechecked everything for leaks. I was there at least 20 minutes, and was charged nothing! Knowing little to nothing about cars, he could have told me anything, and charged me whatever. Thank you Andre for being honest, and helping out a driver in distress, all for nothing in return. I found 2 Good Samaritan's that day!

I took my wife's 2000 BMW to JMS when I notice motor oil leaking on the garage floor. They put it on the lift, found a leaky oil plug gasket, and replaced it with no charge. Plus, they were quick. I was out the door in half an hour. That's how you get customers to return.

Great service, professional , honest, fair pricing , had my rotors and front and back breaks replaced, dan the manager is very helpful and professional, the inspection guys is Great. Highly recommend them.

A few years back I gave this place a 5-star review. I can no longer stand by that assessment of their service, so I am updating my review. I took my older car in for an emissions inspection and state inspection. I am realistic about having an older car and know that sometimes comes with surprises during inspections. Lo and behold I failed both. That's fair. Things started going south when they quoted me $173 for headlight restoration since they were too dim to pass inspection. HA. I could spend less on buying entirely new replacement headlights and installing them myself (or a $10 kit off of Amazon, which I did myself). Second was the way they talked to me as a young female. I know the basics about cars, but every time I tried to ask a specific question about what they had looked at and what still needed to be checked, I got a 10 minute "explain it like I'm 5" explanation, despite already demonstrating that I had basic knowledge of the issue. No thanks. Third, they identified two motor mounts in need of replacement - yet when I went to another shop for a second opinion, only one needed to be replaced. This was made all the more difficult by them not sufficiently describing to me which ones needed to be replaced which would have allowed me to shop around for quotes over the phone. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, my car has been spewing oil since I brought it into this place. This issue was not happening before (especially since they should have noticed it during the inspection given they were so diligent in checking my headlight dimness). While I hope this can be contributed to this place being SO INCOMPETENT that they damaged the valve cover gasket, I wouldn't be surprised if they saw me as the perfect little damsel in distress that would come running back if my car decided to leak all of my newly replaced oil all over and took the opportunity. In short, just go somewhere else. I used to like these guys, but something has definitely changed for the worse.
